Jazz

2:00am; closing
From behind the bar
the muted clink
of empty glasses
brings an end
of another night
Sultry tones
of smooth jazz
float through the air
as one by one
patrons slowly drift
out into the night
In a secluded corner
beneath the dim glow
of a glazed lamp
one couple remains
Clinging
with eyes locked
Swaying gently
in a sensual dance
Movement designed
to arouse and entice
mind and senses
body and soul
Seductive rhythms
begin to take hold
as fingertips flirt
Touching here and there
leaving behind
tingling sensations
Eyes sparkle brightly
as warmth spreads
from one to the other
Capturing both
in soft embrace
When finally they turn
only to disappear
in the velvet night

Very nicely done. I had to read it twice before I realized it was in free verse. that's how well it flowed.

Gary...I love the imagery you used in this one and the over all tone to it. It flows like a gentle stream to the very end. Wonderful piece of poetry

Thank you so much everyone! I have travelled through many forums over the past 3 years and I have never been welcomed as warmly as I have been here. I look forward to meeting all of you and reading the excellent poetry that I have found on this forum. Thanks again!
