I awoke screaming your name The sirens still echoing in my mind Reaching out for you Feeling the emptiness in my bed Rising quickly Tears staining my ivory face Thunder breaking the silence As the lightning flashes across the walls Shadows dance eerily As I shudder from the chill in the air Trembling from fright I crawl back into the empty bed Pulling the covers up Closing my eyes uneasily I see your face Troubled and lost White knuckled I grip the sheet The phone rings My heart skips a beat As I hear your voice on the other end The was an accident It wasn’t just my paranoia Just the bond Between two people The knowing of pain Felt from heart to the other To be inside someone Comforting yet frightening I lay the phone down Relieved and taking comfort |
