I saw a leaf as it was turning |

I saw a leaf as it was turning—from green, to yellow, to red, then brown, and felt a sadness in my yearning for the times we walked together, down blue heatherly lanes along the sea, where we sat beneath our favorite tree; laughed and cried; made passionate love—asked you there, to marry me. We talked about our life to come—what little time we had; so young; then saw our world as it was turning—from happiness to sorrow, sung; when fell a leaf upon your crown; turned your hair from gold to gray; as you, beneath that tree must lay, ‘til I beside another day. ---- Gene |

this was a tug at the heartstrings U_Gene..I had a similar experience.. _____________________________________________ Everlasting I am with you in the rainbow after a summer rain, I am the soft flutter of the morning dove’s wings, my spirit mingles with the falling snowflakes in winter, you can hear my voice in the laughter of a child, when you read my words, you will see my smile, I am all around you if you but look for me. This death is not the end of me in this world. It is but another path to travel in the great adventure. I will be here if you want me in times of trial. Think of me and I am with you. Speak my name to the wind and I will come. I will be with you my love, whenever you call. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

"To have loved and lost, tis better than to have never loved at all" beautiful poem and so sad... A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

I don't know what to say, it was so beauiful. When freedom wisphers your name, it's time to fight for it. |

All I can say is Grand, Gene, Grand! I'm sorry that you lost her...but, you've given all of us a wonderful sense of hope with your poem! Thanks! ~~Jamie I mean the opposite of what I say. You've got it now? No, it's the other way. ~Bruce Bennett |

This kind of knocks the wind out of me and leaves me gasping. It's very beautiful, Gene, as well as very sad. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |

Dear Gene, this is such a beautiful poem.. As you watch the leaves turn from from green to brown and everything in between, I am sure she would have loved this sensitive piece.. What a way with words, hehe.. thanx for posting this Gene.. -Lynne |
