I thought it would be fun for us to create our version of haiga from picture links.
They say there are a thousand words in a picture, therefore each picture should spawn many haiku from our haiku writers here.  And perhaps inspire more members to try this lovely form of poetry.

Here is the first picture.
http://www.ovis.net/~rspencer/spring1112.htm

1.  I think it would be a good idea to keep all the haiku and responses generated by a picture in the same thread as the picture.  That way it is all together as we can easily see each others work.

2. Oh yes, do as many haiku as you are inspire to and when you are inspire to.

heavy mantle
whitely covers all
a stream still flows

What a great idea, wordancer! Don't have one yet, though.

Snow-covered footbridge
Over chilly flowing stream
Might it lead to spring?

wow, what a great challenge!!thanx wordancer for bringing this to our attention....

my reactions as i saw the photo:

the bridge fears for the
pedestrian who may
       s l i p (OUCH!)
on the steel snow

On the bridge i stand
asking fishes how they cope
under icy snow

i dont know why but the bridge apparently caught my attention

kaile, that is great about the bridge images, I love them, that is one of the good ideas about this exercise, to share with everyone else what you see in the picture.  And to act as an inspiration for more haiku...never can be enough of them.

These are all wonderful, it is great to see such a variety from the same picture and if you get more inspiration  from the picture or comments do post them

Also, to everyone, do comment on these haiku in this thread and I’ll be posting more pictures.  If you have a picture you feel that would lead to good haiku do post it with the same title using the next number in line:  Sample:  Haiga Challenge #____.  Yeah I like being neat and tidy.

Monique and all, I’m going to have to admit this wasn’t my original idea I got it from a member who posts in my haiku forum at another site.  But then again she got it from my post on the haiga information…LOL, so it all goes around and it is all good.

connecting snowy points
link to the world

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Cathedral of snow
o'er the streams soft hymn to God's
Love in all seasons

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.
