I'll walk the fires on callosed feet, Drown in my own misery for effect. There's never a time like the present For remembering the past in all its glory. Cast a long shadow across the future, And realize that I'm living on time That didn't belong to me in the first place-- Hooray for chronological collateral. I'll stand here in a blur of movement, Realizing the world flows past me Like a river of linear dreams. A pure pop gem is made, Like crushing coal into diamonds. Crush the humanity from my limbs, Leaving only a hardened core behind. Cast aside your illusions and confusion, Return to the womb or Eden Or some other unattainable paradise. That is the journey of life, is it not? To seek out what was, Or wat maybe never could be. The grass was not greener then, Because chlorophyl could only go so far. Chemicals perk the artificial landscape right up. One unbroken promise Is worth its weight in lies. "If you can't annoy somebody, there's little point in writing." --Kingsley Amis |
