To a Friend Never truly loved? How can it be? Do you not yet know what love is? It is not trumpets and bells, Fireworks, Romeo and Juliet. Perhaps it came and you missed it, For it lay itself at your feet, As Ruth at the feet of Boaz, Only you did not see But went off to the harvest And never knew that You could have had what Changed the world, or Your world, at least. |

Dear Marilyn; Lovely poem and I could so understand this. Some are so wounded that they just can't believe or take in the love given. I once was that person and only after God healed me through much therapy and His great love, was I able to know my lovable self. Love, Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

Marilyn, I like the wisdom in your poem. I think some people strive too hard for fairy tale romance, and can't always see that real love is not perfect! (sometimes life is too busy too!) Nicely done! |

Marilyn.... I feel the same way....to many people expect perfection...when real, true love...is loving someone when their not. Wonderful! Ranea (Best) |

Ellie - Thank you. I am glad you have been healed and feel how lovable you really are. As it happens, I'm not sure this person was wounded in that way. He had been married for many years and had grown children from that marriage, but claimed never to have been truly in love with anyone. Romantic that I am, I couldn't understand that. Debbie - Thanks. That is what I was thinking when I wrote this, thus the suggestion in this poem that he really had found love, but didn't recognize it because it wasn't what he expected. Ranea - (What a pretty name!) Thanks. I know you have written with great wisdom on this subject yourself. Yes, real love is loving always, not matter what, because you must. How's that for a romantic point of view? To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |

kcs, this reminded me of something i have come across the only way to love is not to seek your perfect someone but to love your imperfect someone perfectly. |

Oooh...I do agree with this kcs! It took me three proposals just to notice the love that was neverending!!! Luckily, we're finally getting married in May so the not noticing will cease! Thanks for this--was an excellent read! ~~Jamie I mean the opposite of what I say. You've got it now? No, it's the other way. ~Bruce Bennett |

Kaile - What a beautiful thought! Thank you for sharing it. Jamie - Glad you finally got it right! Hope you keep noticing forever. Pegasus - Thanks. You seem to have quite a range yourself. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |
