Tempt not this lonely heart with promises, hastily conceived, born of obsession, masked with tender kisses of deception, that prey so upon this desperate need. This blind need that cannot see beyond self, can’t discern the ploys of dishonesty, a victim ripe for perfidious aims, starved for the temper of true love’s delight. Breach not this fragile tower of defense, with careless words not born of pure intent, words that enter as a lover’s caress, and depart with the sting of the viper. The bite that remains forever intact, indelible; a searing wound of pain, that contaminates every lucid thought, invades every restless dream with despair. Spare this vulnerable soul from deceit, from endless days of unscrupulous ruse, depart instead with merciful release, for this heart undeserving of such guile. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

Pegasus; I am stunned here by this mgnificently beautiful poem, but more so by these truths , horrible as they are, that seem to have delved into my innermost heart. I have know this, sad to say... Belief is a truth held in the mind; faith is a fire in the heart. Joseph Fort Newton |

quote: By dear peg, this is stunning, the whole poem is...I'm in awe in your words. Such finely tuned emotions that hit with a drop-kick force. So very well done my friend. WO [This message has been edited by wordancer (edited 01-07-2001).] |

Pegasus, I want to tell you how wonderful this is, but am too awestruck to find the words. I've been there, too. I wonder if these "vipers" have any idea of the damage they cause, or if they care. A very powerful read here. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |
