I am the mantle clock
faced – and outward
I stare
at hands that would seek
to touch this countenance
this broken glass
marred, imperfect
from the fight of backwards time
tock tock tock
strain the force-me-forward
clogs, geared to submission
I watch
the days, they pass
unhindered
beneath lowered lashes
tipped in tears – as
yesterday comes in my room
to set his watch
I scream
in meaningless chimes
and bongs
whirling my arms circular
for attention…
something
something
Yet serving as the
simple reminder – to go on
move on
beyond that which I can provide
for all I am is a vessel
of time
