For the ones that fell
On the desert sands
Breaking Saddam's spell
With their sun-scorched hands

Did you ever thank them?

For the frozen souls
Who rigidly stood their posts
Fighting the communist rules
Off the foreign coasts

Did you ever thank them?

For the fear they had
In the jungle clearings
Strength pulled from the sad
Who once had a mass of feelings

Did you ever thank them?

For the ones on the hill
Who raised that flag
They once let go of the hell
To believe in that tattered rag

Did you ever thank them?

For the old vets
Who sit patiently waiting
Viewing VA TV sets
Diseases not dissapating

Did you ever thank them?

For the ones out there this instant
Away from their loving families
Keeping the peace as a constant
This Christmas in foriegn countries

Do we ever thank them?

Take some time this Holiday
To raise up your glasses
In a toast to us soldiers
Keeping Freedom in foreign places

Your Welcome...

---------

Sorry ppls,

Was in a very patriotic mood this morning.  Hope you enjoy this poem and remember us; we who cannot make it home for the holidays because we have a duty we pledged to our country and you. Please celebrate for us.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

~~Jamie

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

I was not in the military-  but as one of a legion of cilivians- you are so very right -our THANKS and gratitude, and meaningful expression of such is long overdue-
I thank & salute you!  God Bless You and Servicemen (and women) everywhere-- and let us never forget- the many who have given the ultimate sacrifices to uphold Freedom, and in seeking peace!

I'm very active in the VFW organization and I thank them EVERY day!!  Thank you - for reminding everyone that there are those we should never forget.
