How come we don't take time outs anymore?
How come we rush around this little world and never see?
There is danger here
Never seeing, never doing, never noticing...

I sit enchanted by my television screen
A fictional world with characters created by unquiet minds
There is danger here
Always watching, never seeing, never doing, never noticing...

Here I am at the computer again
A bunch of wires and cables that have created an alternate plane for me
There is danger here
Totally connected, always watching, never seeing, never doing, never noticing...

When will it all cease?
We have created a nation totally reliant on falicies
Never thinking, never doing, never seeing
Counting on an alternate reality to save us all

...Yet...there is nothing to save...
Or is there?

Hey again ppls,

I know, I know, too long I've been away!  I see a whole new treasure trove of talented writers in the Pub and I'm going to have to take time to get to know all of you and your work!  Well, I'll try not to let my occupation get the best of my free time and appear more in the pub.  Good to see you all (all that I know) again...Take Care!!!

I agree with Pegasus.  Although there is much truth in what you say here, I am not sure I'd be willing to give up the PC.  Nice, thoughtful work, though.

Like peg, I can not give up the computer...for it has become an invaluable writing tool for me...it can almost give up with my thoughts!

But, for all intents and purposes I have almost totally given up TV, only watched it about 5 time since Oct 1.  (Having problem giving up Star Trek....lol)

Good thinking poem, thanks...

Wikket...

makes you think how much time is really spent constructively. I myself prefer to curl up with a good mystery novel over the TV anyday. Wonderful job.

Best

hi there,
nice thought-provoking stuff...makes me saddened at the fact that we human beings need to rely on such gadgets to keep ourselves occupied...

Beautifully written and much food for thought..But, what about the time spent writing this beautiful poem? That time spent for all of us poets is most gloriously productive and of the highest order of excellence, don't you think? Love, Ellie

Well i agree Ellie I can only imagine how many talented people are messmerized by fake life on tv. If they only new.I do not watch tv much . I think i have better things to do with my time. And i often wonder if the portrayal of people is accurate on tv. Are we really that bad.Is society lost.
great poem. Suzanne
