~~~Perhaps there are some mistakes for which forgiveness is not possible...~~~ Innocence stolen... When as a child You made me see Things adults do To make children like me... Innocence lost... When rising from Our tangled bed You left me for another Without regret in your head... Innocence forgotten... When you ran away Leaving mom and me Learned quickly enough Adult responsibilities... Innocence shattered... Reeling from the blow Your hand dealt to my cheek The bruise fades like the past Days turn into weeks... Innocence destroyed... Reaching out as a friend in need You walked quickly away With bittersweet tears, jaded eyes I contemplate the passing days... ***Authors note: Each stanza is based on different events in different time periods..."You" is used very loosely to avoid naming names or relationships. With a little piece of tomorrow, You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye. Because today won't last forever, And the past will only make you cry. |

Oh how I wish I could take all of these stealers of innocence and make them carry the demons they gave. How is it that they live on and on and feel they did nothing wrong. How , in God's name, can this keep happening? I can't say I enjoyed the verse, but I think it took a surviver to let us know another side of "human" nature. God bless and hugs! ME |
