Thunder rolled across the darkened sky, with angry growl, lightning jagged and skipped to earth with deadly scowl, the window glass ran rivlets down in crazy streams, the woman stood in shadow, lost in dreams, motionless amidst the tempest raging splendor, her slowly drifting thoughts serene and tender, winds pushed mightily at trees in ruthless gusts, Clouds of dust swirled dizzily in ghostly tufts, a night like this, so many years long past, returned in fits, not so painful as the last, her heart skipped in response to flooding thought, of him, whose face in hopeless love she'd sought, calmer now, emotions fading to subconscious sleep, pushed under layers thick, in murky fields to creep, to calmly wait, with patience for that fitfull doze, rising in ghostly shrouds they're will imposed, in waves they rise, appointments they must keep, restrained no more in mouldy dungeons deep, she knows this well, the pattern woven in fine thread, all of this, and more, tumbling in her lofty head, the storm begins it's final scene, in natures' plan, lashing out a last torrent upon the flooding land, she turns, retreating into the lonely darkened hall, dreading days like this but, ready for them all. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

Pegasus~ I'm not sure why this one caught me and swept me along ... but it sure did. I enjoyed the rhyme-scheme. And this in particular - 'a night like this, so many years long past, returned in fits, not so painful as the last,' Very intriguing write. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

This one is intriguing, Pegasus. I read it a couple of times, and am still not sure I understand it, but liked the images, and especially liked the contrast in these lines. motionless amidst the tempest raging splendor, her slowly drifting thoughts serene and tender, She sounds like a very strong woman. I liked! To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |

kc..yes, a very strong woman indeed..she has pushed the unpleasant memories deep into her subconscious and on nights like this, when it storms, she knows she will dream that recurring dream of losing her true love on that stormy night so long ago..but, she is dealing with it better all the time. this is a psychological twister.. ![]() the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

Pegasus; If Hitchcock had written poetry, this would be his cup of tea! The imagery is superb, as you use it to symbolize her painful memories and emotional pain of great loss. Excellent... and hauntingly romantic. Ellie Belief is a truth held in the mind; faith is a fire in the heart. Joseph Fort Newton |

When I read your words, I can't help but wish I had it in me to say such deep and meaningful things, things like this must come with great thought and emotion, I sometimes almost cry when I read what I write, this sounds like it tears apart a soul. This is wonderful, I envy your talent |
