Racing afoot through the wood
hugging to me a special thing
Where are you off to little one?
Why, to give a present to the King.

I pain, I pant, I tire so
I thirst, my mouth's so dry.
I only want to give the King
this special thing, I cry.

I have arriived at the gates
but they will not let me in
to give the King the special gift
kept safe against my skin.

You there in those tattered clothes
be on your way again!
You cannot be here with the king,
what makes you think you can?

I have no money it is true
but neither am I lost.
What I have here for the King
is priceless in its cost.

Across the courtyard
the King spies me.
What child? he asks
What is it I should see?

He takes my hands
and opens them wide
Why girl, there is nothing
so please step aside.

I look up with tearfilled eyes
as he turns to walk away
but your majesty, it is love
that I bring to you today.

Child, this is extraordinary...this is what poetry should be... beautifully creative and imaginative, this one is perfect!!

Poetry is the expression of thoughts which awake the higher and nobler emotions, or their opposites, with words arranged to some accepted convention.........or maybe not! Dennis :^)

What do you mean, "bear with you"? I'm not really sure where you would get something like this, but the best poems usually come from inspirations unknown...and this is one of those "best poems"! Incredible piece of poetry you've got here, child!
