Seems I have written poems about every thing I know,
And I am sure they were all just, so so.
But I keep trying to say something profound,
It's just hard to find words with a suitable sound.

I sometimes start with one idea in mind,
And wind up with one of another kind.
How do they do it, these poets who are so fine.
Someday I'd like to be able to say that about mine.

Lord knows I'm old enough to have seen a lot,
And I draw on those years, and give it all I got.
I even make up lies to try and give it spice,
But that doesn't work, you have to keep it nice.

One of these days I will hit the right key,
Then all my friends will be bragging about knowing me.
Someday the whole human race, will see through my eyes,
And I'll stand there in Stockholm, and get my Pulitzer prize.

good luck on the Pulitzer. I don't think you'll have to go to Stockholm for it though. that's an american award, or did you know that already?..good job on the poem.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Nothing wrong with dreams.  As long as you're going to Stockholm, may as well make it a Nobel though!

William,
I brag about knowing you, and I don't even know you...  Well, I do brag about being able to read all of your poems as soon as they are written.  I know that you have the talent to win the Pulitzer.  Go for the gold!

William, I don't think your dreams are crazy. And as for the pultizer, I'd award you with one.  Your poems have always been fabulous, and you're one of the authors I have in my "library" here...   There's a group of friends and I that share poems vs. e-mail and yours are always somewhere in that ring because we all find them fabulous.  Keep up the great writing...
