As lovely as a flower
-A refreshing breath of spring
You fill each day, each hour
With loveliness and bring
Pure joy beyond all measure
To the hearts of one and all
You're such a priceless treasure
-As the songbirds lilting call
You'll own our hearts forever
Yes, you've set our hearts awhirl
We'll not forget you ever
Our darling precious girl.

For my granddaughter's 5th birthday!

Good one! I'm sure Nicole will treasure it.. can she read it yet? Save it for her, maybe someday she'll be posting poetry here and telling everyone she got her talent from her very special grandma!

Denise, this is so sweet! I am sure it made your granddaughter's day. Be sure to tell her happy birthday from all of us!

Set every threadbare sail-
And give her to the god of storms,
The lightning and the gale!

Thank you, ladies! I printed it on a specialty paper and had it laminated for her! I do that with all the special poems that I write for my family members! I think something personal like that makes a lovely gift! Thanks again for your wonderful comments!

Thanks, Rebecca, it is good to be able to see you too! You also are not what I pictured in my head (where do we get these 'pictures' in our heads anyway..hehe) nor is anyone else, and like you I am always pleasantly surprised when I finally see what people look like! I think you are lovely too! For some reason I thought you were blonde..don't know why! Thanks for your lovely comments. I had this laminated for her and perhaps it will be one of her treasures when she is old and gray! hehehehe

hehehehehe...it took me three days after hooking up my scanner and some emails to Ron to finally figure it out! Good luck! I wish the people who made the software for the scanner didn't assume that everyone is computer literate! They don't explain things very well! Can't wait to see you!

Yeah, kids are precious...I know, when I was 11 and 12 and still in elementary school I loved working with the third graders and other kids, well, less experienced than me. Thanks for this poem! I noticed it's another one of Lost Dreamer's recovery projects!
