Heart's Sight With my heart's sight, I see you Holding the child that never was. The image is achingly clear - Your large hands cradling the tiny body, Your face suffused with joy and tenderness - A scene that ought to have been but was not. You do not regret your chosen path, Yet I sense a certain wistfulness For the little ones that should have been Receiving the legacy that is yours; And I, my own babes now grown, Wish that I could make the vision real And hope against reason that it still might be. We could have had wonderful children, you and I. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |

Karilea - Thank you for reading. I hope the ache does not stay. We all make choices, and his led him a different way. Denise - Thank you again for your always kind comments. I am glad to have touched you. Vicky - Thank you, my friend. I think we women often feel strongly about the children that ought to have been. My friend would have liked children, but he liked doing life his own way more, and now a real legacy (three generations of a family business in a very beautiful setting) has nobody to inherit it. Sad, but his choice. Thanks for sharing the feelings, though. hugs Marcy - Thank you, as well. Glad you like it. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |

Marilyn, This one definately pulls at the heart strings, knowing the joy of holding your own child in your arms, the pride of looking at this marvelous creature on loan from heaven, saddens one to think others could miss this exhilaration by a missed opportunity or simply by choice! Well written poem here! Dennis :^)< !signature--> Moonbeams radiate When the veiling cloud has passed Playful shadows dance Dennis L. White :^) [This message has been edited by Dennis L. Thank you, Dennis. You really do seem to have seen what I was feeling here, and I appreciate the comments from a poet whose work I respect. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |
