The fields evolve to a dingy brown a far cry from the summer wealth forest trees stand tall and stark stripped of their children ghostly sentinals to the season of death Hunched against the ominous wind he contemplates with sadness the demise of his dear friends and the inevitibility of his own He mourns the loss wistfully his own indifference a grim reminder of the ruthless expiration of lost opportunity the cold wind bites deeper Punishing his silence with numbing reality we live and then we die love completely today that which matters most For tomorrow may be but a dream that never comes the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

Sometimes it takes that dark passage to see the light of hope that springs eternal. Beautifully written poem, the imagery superb as an analogy of hope lost and then discovered. Excellent! This is excellent, pegasus. How true that we should love completely today! Sometimes it does take confronting your own mortality to realize that. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |
