mourn not the distant calling bird sweet echoes over the grave that pierces the trembling heart, as it steps into the deepest dark; cry not for the weeping clouds as they nourish the green sward that grows over the gaping hole as you gently pick at the distant ache of this thing called your soul; distant chimes hang . . . trembling in the brazen clear blue sky, to magnify a lost moment in time as a silent breeze drifts the wilted rose petals fallen on the spot where memories grows; weep not for the crimson tears that commemorates the broken heart, as they slowly drift in a splendid ground cover; engraved stone, hollowed words slowly vanish into melting time, bitter-sweet remembrance into a forgetfulness that lingers; ah, and you briefly wonder who will weep over your grave? < !signature--> Lady Noggins aka Wordancer ...come, dance with me...in my world of words... Dear L; Beautifully haunting poem. It is only how much we love while here on earth, for love is all we leave behind and love's tears that will fall on our graves. Love, Ellie Summers haunting melody that awakens the butterflies, calling them to join the dance in their silent song of praise to God. eL |

denise/ellie, thank-you for your kinds words, this was written while sitting by a friend's grave whom I visit twice a year, least that I forget her in the bustle of everyday life. I know I won't, but its been almost 10 years now...and the thoughts of her sometimes seems so far away. -Lady |

Lady- wow...hauntingly beautiful. i'm so sorry about your friend, no matter how many years go by, the pain of losing someone so close to us never completely disappears...and how wonderful that you have kept her in your heart and continued to visit her grave for all there years. you will always have the memories, my friend...they will not let you forget. Cindy was a 19-year medic who was killed-in-action during Desert Storm the day after the ground war ended. We were both in the same unit and she was a friend that felt like a daughter to me. For years I couldn’t visit her grave even though I wanted to. Now I go on Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day in her memory and in the memory of all those that gave their lives for our many freedoms. -Lady |

Thank you for sharing the story behind this poem. It adds to its beauty. I, too, am sorry for your loss, and glad that you chose to honor your friend in this way. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |
