Like a thief, I steal quietly from my bed,
drawn to the glow
of the computer screen,
like a moth to a flame.

In the silence of the night,
the walls and ceilings whisper to me,
of things I can’t not dwell upon
in the harsh, busy, brightness of day.

The doors to my office are wide open
like arms outstretched in welcome,
as I step out of my heavy responsibilities
and leave them neatly in the hall.

I am filled with anticipation and guilt,
as my fingers reach for the keys to my passion,
unlocking well-hidden thoughts
in the early morning hours.

The blessed darkness envelopes me,
wraps itself around me like a robe,
warm and comforting,
it is my companion now.

It is here, in the quiet of this room
that I may dare to wonder or dream,
or say those things I must not say,
in ordinary daylight.

While up the stairs and down the hall,
people who live normal lives
sleep on peacefully,
unaware of my secret love affair.

Well now, it seems to me that anyone who writes like this should be able to shout it to the world!  Glad you didn't keep this a secret.

To love another person is to see the face of God.

Yes! I know them nights and/or wee hours of the morn, when the words will not leave me alone and I know if I don't wake up enough to get up and write...I will usually lose that particular way a certain thought went.

It does make for some interesting days at work as I stagger in a daze through the day.LOL
