Sanity is the prize of the boring,
Won on the bland battlefield.
It is but a small triumph,
A little victory over nothing
That is hollowed out
WHen you see the crazies having fun.
The only thing you cheat is yourself,
And we all laugh in your face.
Go ahead, tell me I'm "cracking up,"
That I've lost all my marbles,
And that I'll never get the bloodstains
Off my hands.
But I'm no martyr to my senses,
I won't be a slave to your reality.
I'll take the dream any day,
And leave you to languish in your prison.

It could probably be argued that all artists are a little insane.  But then, it depends on how you look at it.  Maybe it's not so sane (healthy) to allow yourself to be trapped by convention.  Thought-provoking, as your work usually seems to be.

To love another person is to see the face of God.

Undoubtably, all artists are at least a little insane (myself included).  But that's what being an artist is about--tapping some level of creativity and humanness that can't be found in the average, mundane world.  Gotta be a little crazy to provoke a reaction.

I'm glad you liked it.  I was rather fond of it myself.

Being an artist or poet is making the choice not to conform with other peoples idea of "reality"...you expressed it wonderfully here.

Sanity is simply a barrier to greater creativity, I think.
