The tendrils of that lonely place
Will not pass away from here
The soaring of your lonely heart
The footsteps of the chase
The figure in gossamer gown
It pulls at your reality
The essence of existence
Is draped in ethereal mystiness
The silver moon turns blindly away
Memories fall and tumble over one another
Then floating out to the cloudless sky
Swooping diving drifting
Places of yesterday are viewed in
Replay motion random regret
Overpowering happiness
Faces smile or cry
Laugh or shout
Some are known some are not
The need to go on
To flee this jumble sale of the soul
Drives you forward ever forward
Stumbling blindly slipping grasping
Moments of lapsed understanding
Pile in and out of focus
A melody is running through
The cracked speakers of an old gramophone
So powerful in its simplicity
And then a clearing
In the haziness of your mind
Softness enfolds your thoughts
You are still drifting
But peacefully
Whiteness all around you now
The softness of the sea
The rhythm of the tides
The stars are aglow and call your name
You are happy but unknowing
There is no threat here
Just peace
Whirlpool memories
Pulling down
Sinking
Drowning
Spinning spinning
Downward
Eyes flick open
Staring
Blinking
Bewildered
Grateful
You clutch at you arm
And know it was only
A Dream

Very nice, as usual, Jon.  You describe the feelings so accurately. I like my kind of dreams better, though.

Outstanding as usual.  Thankyou for sharing again..

With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.

Jon~
This is hauntingly lovely.
I really like the almost whirlpool effect -
pulling me down and around and around.

VERY NICELY done.

And ... the answer is perhaps because we need them to be ?

I liked this very much - "jumble sale of the soul" - yes, that's exactly it!!!
