There are basically two types of torture - Of the body and of the soul. Bamboo under the fingernails falls into the former category, While you fall firmly into the latter. There are times when I wish That I could pluck my heart from my chest So it will be still in your presence. Your flirtacious smile infects me, And this disease has yet to find its cure. I know you hold the antidote - If only you'd administer it to my ravaged soul. To beg for human touch is undignified, But to pine for it nightly is worse still. There are some animalistic passions in my desire, And a whole heap of words that I can only express in growls. What is it about you that stifles my senses, That robs me of logic and reason? Why am I so melancholy? Because you'd grind me under your heel Unknowingly as you waltz down your path. "If you can't annoy somebody, there's little point in writing." --Kingsley Amis |

Yes, that certainly is torture. Very good expression of anguish you have penned here. Denise |

I know that feeling a little too well... I only hope someday he/she realizes that without knowing it, you can break someones heart so easily. With a little piece of tomorrow, You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye. Because today won't last forever, And the past will only make you cry. |

Me too...too bad most people don't even realize that they're torturing someone until it's too late. "If you can't annoy somebody, there's little point in writing." --Kingsley Amis |

I really liked the way you used your words to describe your feelings! I think you did such a good job on this poem. I especially liked the ending, it really seems to sum it all up! "Why am I so melancholy? Because you'd grind me under your heel Unknowingly as you waltz down your path." good work! |
