Judas The betrayal was not so much in Your last kiss as your first, For with it you stole my youth And all my dreams for life And finally condemned My pierced-through heart to lie Waiting for an Easter That may never come. Could what you gained have been Worth all that it cost me? |

Dear K; This is a chilling, but beautifully written poem of betrayal. I've known terrible betrayal and it's pain, by this poem, so have you. It is davastating! Ellie Summers haunting melody that awakens the butterflies, calling them to join the dance in their silent song of praise to God. eL |

KCS~ Wow ! This one aches with a pain that needs to be let go. 'The betrayal was not so much in Your last kiss as your first' Quite a line of thought. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

Ellie - I'm sorry you have been betrayed. Yes, it is painful. Marge - As with any pain, I think, this one comes and goes. I suspect Ellie would agree with this. The reason the first kiss was a betrayal is that he knew (as I didn't for more than 20 years)that he could not love me the way I wanted to be loved. Denise - Thank you. I was afraid it might be a bit heavy for the Pub. I appreciate your support. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |

Thanks dg and Vicky. I guess the reason we write is that it is a way for us to say something that we can't express any other way. This is an old pain, but one that opened my eyes to others' pain. And I am still finding, through this writing, that almost everyone has experienced it in some way. Thanks for reading and understanding. Unbelievably Profound. The pain pouring out of this is unimaginable. Written in simplicity, it cut through me on multiple levels. Such immensity in such few words. This is probably one of the most speak to me poems I have read on this forum. You have touched me with this piece. I felt the words and I even felt some of the pain. |

CitiZen-One, I am speechless. Thank you for letting me know how this touched you. If this speaks to people, I suppose it is because the pain is/was real, and as has already been pointed out here, pain is universal. Thanks for hearing what I had to say.
