At times when all alone,
Deep longing comes over me;
Unexplained even to myself,
No clear reason can I see.

Something, unknown to me,
Keeps pulling me from without;
Dissatisfaction envelopes me,
Filling me with doubt.

A picture fills my mind, of
A cottage by the ocean;
Scenes are played out now,
AS if in slow motion.

I see the winding path,
That leads to the front door;
Such quaintness lies inside,
I long to see much more.

Kneeling by the fireplace,
I picture a familiar scene;
Of another time and moment,
When with my love I dreamed

Of such a place, a haven
To escape the world about;
To love and laugh, but most
Of all, to hopefully shut out

The world around us. Enjoying
Each other, exploring, loving;
Knowing it's only temporary,
We keep taking and giving.

I am drawn back to the present,
My thoughts no longer my own;
Memory itself has succeeded to
Make my longings known.

These longings will continue to
Control my heart and mind;
Until I put away the mem'ries,
And leave them all behind.

But my heart is not willing
To let go..I hold on fast;
For mem'ries are all I have
To remind me of the past.

This is very sad. Sometimes it is hard to let go of memories, even when they are painful, because they are all we have. I hope the hurt goes away soon, and leaves only sweetness.

Yeah memories can be painful.......but they can also give you a strength of spirit ........and sometimes in reflection you are grateful even for bad things.
