Soft dewy cobwebs…… cover this place
And fixing my stare my heart beats with thunder
The new morning sun is warming my face
My eyes disbelieve the vision that’s under

Parting the newly sodden…. thicket of green
The soft embalming sound of a flute in the air
No one will believe the treasure I’ve seen
A lone fairy piper……… was just playing there

The joy of the music mesmerising my head
The filtered clear notes just hung in my mind
I crept to the ground prostrate as if dead
Not to disturb the small……. minstrel kind

The nimble small fingers so slender and fine
Gracefully moved across the flute made of gold
In a fleeting of time this memory ……was mine
For years it as warmed me and kept me from cold

Real hung suspended in …..magical trance
The flow of the tune was lilting and sweet
Time held my hand my soul danced ….a dance
That had been lost on the wind and hidden from feet

The song of the fairy ………drifting in waves
Caught quickly the leaves the grass swayed in time
The daisies were bowing in reverence of staves
That were conjured in heaven a tune so sublime

And then we were joined in our communion of souls
By a ship who drifted in on the warm summer wind
Majesty of colour who ……conducts and cajoles
The notes floating skyward …….. not to exscind

The fairy ceased to play and …started to sing
The butterfly its head ....in a musical sway
She softly then whispered and alighted his wing
And in dance of pure joy they….. floated away

The hymn of the fairy if you listen you’ll… hear
It comes with the morning as fresh as the dew
It resides in the beauty of that fresh morning tear
In your search for it’s tune I’ll give you a clue

Rise in the morning when silence reigns free
When small creatures hide from the daylights long hours
In frosty white wonder look close and you’ll see
The tracks of a minstrel ‘tween  the secretive flowers

This morning I was sort of devoid of inspiration (well it is Thursday)and then I read Ellies fairy poem and this came to me in a flash.

Perhaps we saw the same fairy?

Anyway thanx Ellie....may all your spells come true

Jon; I'm so happy that you posted this beauty, and it truly is a beautifully written poem, right up my fairy alley! Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

Jon~

In that little tweak of time
'twixt starlight and dawn
Fairy's dance
out on the lawn
Enchantment graces
radiant pixie faces
In the sudden burst
of spotlighted sun
The show has ended
the day begun
Off in the shade
fern hiding them well
Fairy's dream
until night comes to dwell

*Well, didn't you just sprinkle me
with a little fairy dust of inspiration ?
Yes, you did !
Thanks ... enjoyed this immensely.
