Morning Sitting at the breakfast table, we were spellbound as our mother worked her magic in the kitchen. She was like a sorceress in her long robe dark hair wild and uncombed, a bright flash of green eyes above a mouth set and determined Nimble fingers commanded the tendrils of steam to swirl out of the cast iron pans bubbling and brewing on the old stove. Mouthwatering aromas, sweet green peppers, onions and mushrooms, dark meaty and mysterious, became a bewitching concoction. Great slabs of ham, puffs of soft biscuits, spongy pancakes, brown and crispy on the edge, appeared as if out of thin air, and we were enchanted, as they landed on our waiting plates, in a dazzling display. |

Debbie; This is delighful poetry, you make it all so real that I can taste every bite! Ellie Summers haunting melody that awakens the butterflies, calling them to join the dance in their silent song of praise to God. eL |

Thanks everybody! This was mostly just wishful thinking on my part. When I was a kid, it was usually toast and a couple of eggs! (sigh) |
