God grant me the eloquence I lack.
Give me strength for my battles,
Ears to hear all my words,
Hearts to touch and soften.
God grant me the wisdom I need.
Place me on the shoulders of giants
To topple kings and tyrants.
Teach me the beauty of silence.
I want to know the stillness
That is the dancing,
To know from whence all
Joy springs eternal.
I want to know you, Lord.
God, grant me this second chance.
Teach me of Your grace and mercy
Which so many have received,
And yet so few realize.
Show me the true meaning of myself.
God grant me the faith I should have.
Give me the will to live as I should,
To see things in their true light.
Lead me down my path.

Wow. This is a good tribute of prayer, Gofor. A great expression of faith, and a true one.

This is great gofor42. I think I'll forward this to a few of my friends.
And as you've said, so few realized.
I hope your piece spreads the word!

Wonderfully humble, you have written an eloquent poem, pure beauty, this prayer. It looks to me that your prayers are answered, because only a beautifully humble and pure heart could write such beauty! Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

I am honored by all of your kind words.  I'm glad you liked the poem.  Looking forward to posting many more, and hopefully they'll be as well-received.

Humbleness and modesty are much better than the alternative, in my thinking.  I mean, who wants to be egotistical?
