Life In The 30s or (Spring Cleaning)

There are four seasons in the year, Summer, Winter, Fall,
But the one us kids dreaded, was the worst season of all.
It was Spring, and it held terror for us three, let me tell you why,
That cold glass of green tea, that big spoon of Black Drought, oh my oh my.

This is how spring cleaning would start, as we came in to eat,
Mother would tell each of us to stick out your tongue, then to each she would repeat.
The fateful words, you need a good cleaning out young man,
And there was no one on earth who could do the job, as well as she can.

We held our breath as she put that spoon in our mouth, that powder was terrible stuff,
But it didn't stay long, for a large glass of very green tea made sure we got enough.
Lord it was terrible, and it wasn't long, before you saw three kids heading for the brush,
The sounds that came from those bushes, were the sounds of a complete body flush.

Home remedies wern't always gentle

LOL, Bill, Delightful!! ...and yes, I remember the Black Drought, and the outdoor facilities.

Don't know anything about the "Black Drought" Bill and from your description, I'm glad I don't. I agree with the other post - this is delightful!!!
