Just who is this old man,
Staring back at me?
So familiar is his face,
What could his name be?

He's got some features,
Quite similar to mine,
Perhaps he's a relative,
I'll find out in time.

His brown eyes are prominent,
With subtle crowsfeet grooves,
As I look away from him,
He mimics all my moves.

In an unsure voice I ask,
"Old man, what's your name?"
As I ask this question,
He echoes back the same.

In that very instant,
I begin to understand,
My perpetual inner child,
Has become this older man.

The trouble with this mirror,
Is that it doesn't lie,
I've seen my souls reflection,
And looked him in the eye.

.................................................

I'm 18 on the inside but 50 on the outside, it's difficult some days, but I'm coping, LOL,
Dennis:^)

Well Dennis I don't think I've ever seen MYSELF in the mirror....it's never the self you feel it should be...I wonder why?

This verse is so so true...a question never to be answered I guess.

Nice

Dennis,
This is great!! How cleverly you see yourself in the mirrow.  Loved this one and written so very well.  Love, Marcy

bro; has no one told you that the mirror lies! You are exactly as young as you feel!
I loved this poem! LOL  love, sis

that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

This is great! Ryhme scheme and message all flow so well.
I've looked in the mirror and asked myself, who is this person? It's odd.
Again, great job!

Dennis i'm only 19 and I worry I am getting older

Words flow heavily,
A carbon copy of my heart,
As well as my soul.

Ouch Dear Brother,
Reality is setting in-tho' it's not quite as bad- the eyesight also dims! But in my escape to face my shared predicament, I can only say--"they don't make mirrors like they they used to!"  Love, David

WOW- another day of life-and here among friends!

This is wonderful Dennis, I have looked in that same mirror so many times!  Usually I see my mother, and that's when I know I'm only 18.... cause that face looks just like she did when I was 18! Bonnie
