At the starting of the day The little girl went out to play Followed by her friend who was Always there, and just because. In his hands of greenish scales Were a shovel and two pails. The little girl took dragon's hand And there they frolicked in the sand. Suddenly a force that took Its time to toll chose then, and shook The little girl, and then she fell. Her friend knew then she wasn't well... Later, at the doctor's place There was deep anguish on her face. Her dragon there to cheer her up, She felt like things were looking up. The doc and parents knew not why Their little girl just wouldn't cry. No one knew apparently Her dragon no one else could see. As time went on, the poor girl's good condition Grew slowly and steadily into submission. The doctor brought her mom inside, Showed her the truth that they could not hide. - - - - - - - What she had without a doubt Was eating her from inside out. The dragon's feelings took a dive-- The cancer she could not survive. The weeks went on, and in her bed The dragon stroked her on the head. She looked up, tears filled her eyes And hugged her favorite dragon's sides. He couldn't help but feel so sad, Remembering good times and bad. The little girl's plants and garden hoses; Her neverending cache of roses... One of these she gave to him, Looking like a cherubim. He cradled her in arms to send Love From her imaginary friend. And as he dreamed of good times past, The little girl had breathed her last. He'd poured out all his love to give; Now there was no cause to live. The dragon opened blinds to see The world all white and wintery. Then he saw a single rose Growing in the lifeless snows. Torn apart from deep inside, Her loving, caring dragon died. And in that room, all dark and shaded The imaginary dragon faded. * But when they searched the girl so pale They found a single, greenish scale. Hey everyone! Please don't ask me why, but I felt so sad tonight...I wrote this after hearing from one of my friends that her pet lizard died, and, well...I was just in a sad mood when I wrote this... But be assured, my little_girl is staying put right here with me, I love her too much for anything to happen to her, and God's watching over her (because He's the reason she's here). If this puts you in a sad mood please forgive me, I just felt like sharing this with all of you for some reason. Watching the poets Passions' guardian dragon Moves with the rhymes' flow. Wow.. this is such a sad piece, but so well-written. You are very talented, my friend. This is the first piece I've ever read in the Pub *blush!*, but if this is any indication of what I'll find here, it won't be the last!
