A confrontation of congregations Took place before my eyes. With no regards to poets or bards They raised a cry for evil. "Freedom" they called for - Freedom from thought and ideas, Freedom from tolerance and peace; Free to waste away in an urban jungle, Ignoring your neighbor. Freedom from responsibility. And the Good Samaritan is beaten down. The confrontation of congregations Flared up before my eyes. Passions raged hot and fierce, Burning those innocents too close. They freed themselves from the Chains of cooperation, And the fire we never bothered to tend Raged out of control again, Much to our feigned dismay. The latest bloddied messiah led their ranks, A bright sword clenched in his hand. They all heard his embittered words, And clamored to join him. I knew his tune, for I'd heard it before, And to me appeared nothing new. Just the same old hate Rising from the dust again. "If you can't annoy somebody, there's little point in writing." --Kingsley Amis |

Gofor42, I may be way off base here but this reminded me of the Republician and Democratic Conventions recently held, Same old tired rhetoric, rallying around uninspired Messiahs! Good Read! Dennis :^) Moonbeams radiate When the veiling cloud has past Playful shadows dance Dennis L. White :^) |

..good write..good read! you have captured a part of our society, communities, cities, politicians, churches and life that is not so pleasing to a peacemaker, such as yourself, through this poem. marcy |
