sunburned in a hot july walking in crinkling grass up to our necks in ferns the road nearby is hot tar ancient little moor all curly little trees thorny protective dark like a little old Scotsman bark worse than bite down on main street all is quiet in the sleepy village warm yellow sunshine beats from the streets and the lines in the road are lonely too hot except for ice cream from the Toffee Shop with magic trays filled with one penny sweets two penny sweets all displayed on their individual trays across lies the gardens sweet place to sit among the flowers while away the hours lying on the grass watching life go by in dear old Millguy a stroll to the City Bakeries for cream cakes and buns or a coffee upstairs behind the lattice frames chattering like parrots so much to say then to Jim's and ideas for the night a beanfeast maybe or a walk to Mirkwood or a seance under velvet or a half bottle of four crown what will it be game of cards maybe maybe Cokey will call and there'll be magic this night so many light colours of life so peaceful now under a gentle warming sun drifting now to the Douglas in the night to watch 'The Dambusters' and a poke of chips licking the vinegar from the brown paper bag remembering my grandfather and nights we came home doing just that together forever in my mind old Coia's Fish and Chip shop Dutch windmill frieze i wonder why now so many years since then why windmills? slow shuffle along Station Road to see the puff puffs one last time and the little wishing well i dreamed on looked forward to Mum and Dad's gift of love for me waking in Woodlands Street it's Christmas! and the waves of white snowflakes are big as my hand so cold and wet my tears for times gone by in a lovely place of memory so many touches so many soft words so many tiny echoes remain golden and always [This message has been edited by allan (edited 08-25-2000).] |

I enjoyed this a lot allan..nostalgia is reeking here.. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

Thank's all...! As they say "Nostalgia ain't what it used to be." I'm still trying to break through a block here and am a bit stuck in this nostalgia thing. Please bear with me...? |

Allan, lovely atmospheric poem, made me nostalgic too, for places I've never been to. Were you hungry when you wrote it though? You've certainly managed to make me hungry (rumble, rumble). BTW, don't forget that now is good too < !signature--> Lotharingia "Dreams are life, reality, creation" Miguel de Unanumo [This message has been edited by lotharingia (edited 08-27-2000).] |

Thankyou... Uta, I'm afraid I think now is awful... Never mind, every cloud... |
