I'm the white speck in a sea of black
The snag on your sweater,
The sharpest, but most ignored tack

I'm the ghost that floats through the halls
The clear, coloress body
The gentle, harmless chill on your arms

I represent the different kind
That falls in back of the line
That's careful not to step on any heels
Who fits perfectly in the woodwork in the walls

I'm the pang in the back of your mind
What's missing
What you could probably, if you searched, find

I'm the star in this empty sky
Noticing myself
And wondering why
Everyone else is blind

It's hard to go through life invisible to others, especially in a crowd, so lonely!

  This is great!!
  I believe this is my first time to read your work, but....will not be the last. I really liked this piece, maybe I relate to some parts of it, anyway, it spoke to me.

Joy, Excellent writing here, sometimes it feels as though were invisible, yet every little speck to every mountain peak has a special reason for being. : )

I am but a speck in the vastness of the universe, yet my existence has meaning to some...nice insightful piece, Joy.

Hey, thanks for reading and enjoying. I was feeling really rundown and insignificant when I wrote this poem, but I just got back from a vacation to Lake Superior and my spirit is feeling refreshed. Much.
