Somewhere... out there...

0 posted 2000-08-06 04:22 AM

a little girl
came out to play today
she ran
she jumped
she sang
she danced
she smiled
and the sun shone
in her eyes
she had not a care
in the world
led by childish innocence
she entered a world
of imagination and dreams
seeing her delight
in simple pleasures
one could not help but smile
for nothing warms the heart
more than the precious innocence
of a child
as the day came to a close
the child could not rest
not ready to end
the adventure
but finally she slumbers
her mind now dancing
with visions of another day
Lord embrace this child
while she sleeps
hold her close
keep her safe
that she might know
how deeply
she is loved

What a sweet poem. Such a tribute to the children of the world. Childhood is such  time of innocence. Wish all children could have this feeling of innocence..

Vicky; I love this poem! You have so beautifully captured the sweet innocents of a child! ellie

Oh wow. I have a little 5 year old daughter and this really hit home for me. Everynight I lay my hands on her and plead the blood of Jesus over her. Thank you so much for penning this wonderful piece.

Wow, what a beautiful picture you paint with your words, tricks!   I could even see the sunset...yeah, childish innocence, wish I still had some!   I think my girlfriend (who posts here as a_little_girl) would like this one a lot. Great job, as usual!

A beautiful portrait of all children!  Wise words indeed, innocence is precious.  Carl Sanburg once said "that a child in God's opinion is the reason why the world must go on"
