Brian, I was getting wound up with all serious stuff in recent times, so had to seek release... I am so glad this came up.. I hope you don't mind... and yes, if you do not approve, I will come up with a serious poem on the same topic... I hope you and others here are not troubled by my handling of this subject like this... Comments Please.... "20 years later" said the crystal ball Year 2020, it was when I met Mr. Bond, J a m e s B o n d then, Old, grumpy and coughing, Freckled and puffing. It seemed as if age had finally caught up with him, Y o u t h had vanished from the most unlikely Star who graced Earth. Well, by then Superman had died, Spiderman got lost Caught s o m e w h e r e In his own w e b, And He-man he met a she-woman, Got married, was kids-a-raising Instead of saving the world by the Power of his r e G - y S u l k l N o grey matter though had ever existed, Just yeoman heroism. Flash Gordon was now a mere icon, fighting M i n g using Virtual reality machines, And playing Dominoes Sat Mandrake The magician, While Mickey, he simply was Enjoying his life with Mini and Unca Donald was laughing His bottoms out Instead of making me laugh Bond said to me "I am Bond, James (cough) (cough) Bond, cigarette agent from Tobacco Land Agency", and he fell down, I picked him up And patted his back, and Out came a periscope from the back of his wrinkled neck. Out came a letter, Upon my death tell Her Majesty's cigarette service, Tobacco is harmful for health, Nicotine is poison, whilst Caffeine is exhilaratingly vile And he died while Breathing his last forlorn Puffed breath. And all I could then think was - "Stars have their moment and then they die" In the rain with heartfelt pain, We fans simply await another star to rise beyond the horizon. A fallen star is No idol anymore - Time to move on To the next star and Praise him to the heavens Till he dies suffocated by An Invincibility myth Surrounding him. ..... I am now wobbling like a < !signature--> Death, be not proud, though some have called thee, Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so; - John Donne [This message has been edited by Sudhir Iyer (edited 07-18-2000).] |
