~ For YuLan and James ~ Midnight Star of Love Oh, little glimmering midnight star of love Does my love ever stand and gaze at you? Would he dare stop to wish upon a star And dream of me the way that lovers do? Oh, ever rolling waters of the sea Do you know what is written in his eyes? Do they reflect your glassy starlit crests That glisten as they move and mesmerize? Please speak to me, oh lustrous silent one That pearly iridescent moon on high Surely you’ve gleamed down upon his face And somehow caught his unsuspecting eye Does he ask you to gently glow on me And drizzle soft moon luster on my face? And does he wonder if I gaze at you The lovers moon seen from a far off place? Perhaps he walks upon the midnight beach And whispers tender love songs to the sea? And slowly scrolls my name into the sand? Please tell me, does he ever think of me? Have you seen him stand upon the rocks And whisper out my name into the breeze? Sometimes I think I hear his gentle voice Calling out my name across the seas Perhaps the voice I’m hearing in my head Is echoing the sorrow of my own Perhaps I’ll always walk the balmy beach And dream upon a midnight star alone Elizabeth Santos 6/7/00 ~For YuLan and James~ [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 07-13-2000).] |

This is a beautiful poem...magical and true. You can never have too much fiction; reality can be such a bore |

Lynne, Thank you for your nice e-mail. I dedicated this poem to you for all your readings and responses to my poetry and also for James, who has also been an avid reader and I appreciate it very much. I'm glad you liked this poem which was inspired by my young dreaming days. Liz Midnight blues, Thank you for your kind comments Lady lost Thank you for your response Martie, You don't miss a trick. Liz; I see that we have something in common: we are both incurable romantics! This is so lovely and soooo romantic. Ellie Summers haunting melody that awakens the butterflies, calling them to join the dance in their silent song of praise to God. ell |

Elizabeth~ What beauty you draw in the sand - 'Perhaps he walks upon the midnight beach And whispers tender love songs to the sea? And slowly scrolls my name into the sand? Please tell me, does he ever think of me?' Love it. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
