The wind blew softly thru my hair
On the day my whole life changed
You insulted me and left me there
Alone with the Autumn Breeze

I stared at my reflection upon the lake so calm
And wondered excactly what I had done
To hurt you so, even though I knew,
I had done nothing wrong

My only fault was loving you
And trusting you were sincere
When you uttered the words "I love you dear"
But, in truth, you didn't care

A whispering conscience chides me now
About events I cannot change
Lost kisses, missed hugs, and other things
For which you think me quite deranged

So don't think of me out here alone
Lingering in and out of time
Wanting and needing someone near
Making a memory yours and mine

I'll sigh deeply and repose myself
Stand up and cry to the sky above--

"Lead me now, ye gods on high,
Into my fate unclear,
my trust dissapeared this Autumn Day
or perhaps 'twas kissed goodbye."

Jamie, 2000

-->To all the world and especially those emotional souls who have given their all to a relationship and been broken by that someone they loved, I dedicate this poem.

 "...at night I cling to you I'm so afraid;
afraid the day will come
and I'll wake up and find you gone.
But you promise that you'd not abandon me
and kissed my fears away
but I woke up to that day..."

Lovely poem, Jamie. Don't give up on love, though. Whenever you give yourself to a relashionship, you have to go in expecting the worst, but hoping for the best, 'cause it's rare to find that perfect one. The only way to find it is to totally open yourself up to the possibility of being hurt--you have to take that risk. Then, only will you be able to find that perfect one.

LOL Gene...I was always hoping for the best and getting the worst...now I know what I did wrong

A very nice poem Wikket. I especially liked:

I'll sigh deeply and repose myself
Stand up and cry to the sky above--

"Lead me now, ye gods on high,
Into my fate unclear,
my trust dissapeared this Autumn Day
or perhaps 'twas kissed goodbye."

No relationship is perfect but hopefully soon you'll find someone who won't insult you. Nobody deserves that. Sad yet wonderful poem!

i appreciated your thoughts but i just feel that perhaps you shouldnt throw in the towel and leave all to faith after a failed relationship?

hugs to you and hope you have already found someone more deserving

It seems Kaile is pulling up some very nice stuff today.  I am a believer in taking the risk of getting hurt in order to find what you dream of in a relationship, but have to admit it can be scary sometimes.  I, too, like the last stanza.

To love another person is to see the face of God.

Whoa!  Haven't seen this one in a while!  I was wondering if I traveled back in time!

Kaile:  Thank you for pulling this up and for your comment.  This was a very traumatic time in my life, and all I can say is, I've recovered.  I now have a wonderful fiance and relationship, and have proven time can heal.  Thanks Again!

kcsgrandma:  Thank you for your comments!  I'm glad you're a risk-taker when it comes to love!  It seems, that's the only way you can be!

Trust is such a valuable thing between two people. And many times when trust is broken, it doesn't return. This was a nice poem. I hope you are able to reagain your trust in someone.

We all lose our innocence sometime. It often hurts, but it is the cold hard fact.

Oh my..this reminds me of a poem that I wrote recently..it is uncanny how our thoughts were so similar yet, we were unaware of each others' progress..

this is so good..you have captured the pain of betrayal by a lover so very well.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost
