      A PLACE OF PEACE

It hangs there, silently beneath the tree,
I put it there for the birds, also for me.
They come and go all through the day,
I watch in quiet respect, as they go their way.

The rascal Blue Jay will come and quickly go,
He's not the brave one he trys to show.
Though loud and a bully, he's quick to fly,
When even a small bird, lites near by.

A gentle Dove flys in and lands so soft,
It reminds ,me of pigeons in my fathers loft.
It stays on the ground and quietly feeds,
I've come to know this, and leave lots of seeds.

Black birds come in groups, they look like a Crow,
At times I scare them off, but when I leave they know.
Robins bounce around the ground, they only look for worms,
You know they have found one when they stop and the head turns.

My favorite is the Cardinal, so bright and perky is he,
With that top knot and black mask, he is beautiful to see.
They mate for life, and if you watch you will enjoy,
Seeing a Cardinal girl, being fed by her boy.

Sometimes a Squirrel will pass quickly by,
A Rabbit also comes by now and then, head held high.
He isn't afraid, and lets me walk near,
I have given him no reason to look on me with fear.

This back yard is a small world of its own,
If you sit in the quiet of morning and watch, there's lots going on.
It is also a place to sit and think, realize how blessed you are,
Think of the places, the years, and thank God for letting you come this far.

Amen! Thank God, indeed! You've captured beautifully the essence of tranquility in this, Bill!

Bill

You've got a beautiful garden there.

I can see it through your magical words.

That's what this is MAGICAL.

This sounds really restful.  I like to get up really early and go sit out in my garden.  I have about half a dozen hummingbirds that will buzz about me as I drink my tea.  Thanks for sharing.

Bill, So beautiful. I can only agree with the others, "tranquil, magical, peaceful....". Thank you for sharing this one.

I'm a bird watcher too, and I appreciate the story you tell so well here of the birds, much like the scene I have from my front porch.

this sounds wonderful... *sigh*...

i have a dove sitting on eggs in a hanging plant on my porch..cant wait til they hatch     ..she looks so peaceful, and doesnt seem afraid.. i've found many baby birds wandering around outside..have had to move them from beneath the cars a few times.. theyre so sweet..

you go watch your birds mr bill..they are poetry in their own right

This is very good Bill.  It's not everyone who can take the time to really see and appreciate the world around them.  You paint a lovely picture.
