well, if your 17-syllable poem is about nature/seasons, it is a HAIKU if your 17-syllable poem is anything else(love,friendship,words of wisdom,social/global issues), it is A SENYRU TANKA is another form of Japanese poetry(5-7-5-7-7 syllable count) and it can be on anything(nature,love....) now that you know, write me a tanka   will be waiting eagerly... |
