I watch him sadly as he goes,
His face ashen, as white as snow
Tears flow rom my eyes,
As I realize that
I never said goodbye

The crowd moves on,
and I realize with a chill
That even though I live
I never truely will

I'm at my end
as the rain falls,
He was my friend
And that's all
That really mattered

I feel like I'm falling
From this bridge called life,
Teetering, hanging
from a thread
and yet I know...

...I am already dead

Despite the author's name...this was NOT written by a little girl. The emotion here's overwhelming! *sniff* Such a beautiful piece...sad, but beautiful.  /

Hope to see more great work!

This is a beautiful poem yet sorrowful... it hurts so much to lose someone you love

As I read this, I couldn't help but wonder if we've shared any of the same of life's little lessons.  Who knows... Anyhow, I really enjoyed this.  I look forward to seeing more of your work.  Welcome to the pub.

I had to add another thought down here.  Two of my friends were killed in a car wreck last summer.  Eva and Derek.  They were really close and died together.  Your poem made me think of Eva.  And I could see her saying those words as she watched the funeral procession.  Though it may not have been the best of memories or thoughts, thankyou for bringing a long lost friend to the surface of my mind again.

This poem almost had me in tears. My mood has been teetering on sad all evening while my thoughts are on two Grandparents I miss very much. They are together at least in Heaven.

Welcome to the Pub.  I took this from two perspectives.  That of someone who is left behind and of someone who has left.  Very sad.  Well written.

Thank you!
This is based upon a true experience that I've had with one of my friends (he died when he was only ten years old) and all of this emotion has been held up inside of me...
so thanks again! I'll be posting again soon!

I had to come back and look at this again...wow...I don't think it had enough impact on me the first time...and yeah it hit me hard the second time around; right now I've got the emotional equivalent of a bloody nose...and with scales like mine, that's not an easy thing to have happen.

Taking a second look at this finally put this into perspective. Thanks so much for making me remember a few things I shouldn't have forgotten.

You sure made a certain kitten somewhere proud.

I just sat here staring bleakly at a blinking cursor wondering what I could possibly say about this poem, as the feeling is for the most indescribable with words.  I've lost and regretted never knowing what was there, and when its gone it doesn't come back...Very touching work, your talents deserve congratulation.

Truely sad.  I know the feeling of losing a very good friend and never having the satisfaction of saying goodbye.  He will always remain in your heart, no matter what others tell you.  I'm so glad I didn't miss this one!

Wow, I'm speechless.  Well written poem about leaving someone behind.  Makes me wonder just how everyone will feel when I'm gone.  Really passionate and provoking.  Made me remember those that I have lost.  Can see my soul being filled by your comforting words of wisdom.

I missed this the first time it was around, but very glad you brought it back up little girl. I've lost quite a few friends in my life and the emotions you describe, and yet the sensitivity at such a painful thing, I'm all choked up. I also kinda read into it losing a friend, not to death, but other reasons.
