Red is for the blood
that flowed,
from wounds they bore
for you and I.
Our dear brothers
fought,
lost life and limb,
that freedom might
be won.

White for courage
and bravery true.
Those who fought
through hellish war,
and those who tended
our fallen brave.
Wives and mothers,
who waited and prayed
that God would bring
their loved ones safe.

Blue for skies
over freedoms land,
and peace well earned.
We will not forget!
So we shall be
thankful still,
for the price that was
payed for freedoms sake,
and pray we shall,
that never again
will such a price be payed.

Ah Ellie,
A beautiful poetic reminder of the great price of the great privilege of Freedom which we prize and cherish--This is most lovely. You did wonderfully in answer to the call!!

This was such an awesome poem! I REALLY loved it!

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I'm in love with my shadow
I admire it daily

I love the way that you have described the colors of freedom.  It's a beautiful reminder of what our flag represents, a symbol of loyalty and sacrifice.
Very nice!
