We had rain here for the Fourth of July, But it let up for the fireworks show. Not that the fireworks were much, I daresay, But the plants need rain sometimes to grow. It had been so dry around here of late--- The rain, a declaration of good, Of independence from drought gone away, The thirsty animals, grasslands, wood... And hopefully people walked down to the show, But as I said, the fireworks were slow. |

Wow, time flies - it's Feast of the Assumption Day already... * Happy Marymass! When summer fruits are blessed, and children so well-dressed! |

Columbus Day Columbus Day passed without fanfare here, without a parade. There's no Little Italy in these towns. Rather a shame, and it wouldn't have been that way years ago. But nowadays only federal and ex-federal grunts get the day off with pay, and bank grunts without. Christopher Columbus was a brave and fortunate man. He may not be "PC" now, but someday he will be again, somehow. © copyright 2010 Mark C. |
