A Stable by Elizabeth Santos Two thousand years a stable has withstood The storms that rock the sea of brotherhood And from its manger Truth and Light extend So far beyond the womb of Bethlehem For twenty centuries sweet angelic hymns Have filtered through the leaves of olive limbs And crossed the earth to touch our hearts again Far from the city gates of Bethlehem For Christmas is the season of a Child When all within the soul is reconciled In Peace, bestowed through Christ to earthly men, To those whose eyes look far toward Bethlehem How wondrously, in endless time and space, The message comes of Christ’s enduring Grace. Through boughs of evergreen do softly wend The blessings given to us in Bethlehem The true Messiah, in a stable came To calm the winds of fear and tides of shame Three kings had journeyed into Bethlehem And laid before Him gifts from mortal men But only God bestowed a Gift Divine Born in a stable,… still, …in endless time A humble place for such a noble birth Of King above all other kings on earth And there, within a lowly cattle stall God placed His Son, a precious Gift to all. Beneath a star, this Life without an end Was meekly born to us in Bethlehem. Two thousand years a stable still remains The sheltered throne from which a King still reigns And from His cradle Love and Joy extend So far beyond the womb of Bethlehem [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (12-03-2003 12:54 AM).] |

May His love and peace become a personal reality to those who haven't yet discovered it, and cherished more and more by those who have. Beautiful expression, Elizabeth! |
