Oh the joys of every memory Christmas time can bring; Those times when we built snowmen And the Carols we would sing. And the tables we set in splendor For another Holiday feast, And the excitement of every present Being grateful for even the least. Then those special moments by the tree, As each light we'd carefully place, Creating more new memories that The paths of time could not erase. But best of all my Christmas memories Whether old or whether new Is remembering and being thankful That we are blessed with friends like you! |

Thanks for the wonderful criticism. I thought that the fireman comments were funny. I do not know what it is, but people always are intrigued when they hear what my profession is. On other notes I would like to take the time now to recognize and give a moment of silence to my fellow brother firefighters who recently died in that fatal fire in Worster Massachusetts. I give my condolences to there family members this holiday season. Reguards, Jer |

I am sorry to hear about your brother firefighters, Jer, but your poem was beautiful! < !signature--> Nail to the mast her holy flag, Set every threadbare sail- And give her to the god of storms, The lightning and the gale! -Oliver Wendell Holmes [This message has been edited by Elizabeth (edited 12-09-1999).] |

Beautiful Christmas memories, Jer. I too was saddened when I heard of the tragedy. So sad. It will surely be a sad holiday time for their family and friends. We should all keep them in our prayers. Again, beautiful poem. Denise |

A very lovely piece this is.....loved it!!! Makes me think of sitting in the living room in the dark after everyone has gone to bed and I watching the Christmas lights dancing in the dark!! It's relaxing!! Thanks!! Bridgette "Somewhere, somehow, it should be possible to touch someone and never let go again. To hold someone, not for a moment but forever." Unknown |

Hi Jer, I loved your poem and would like to ask to pass it along in a neighborhood holiday greeting, with a few tweaks to personalize it. Is that okay, as long as I acknowledge you as the source? I hope you take my wanting to share this and personalize it as my highest compliment. I searched high and low for the perfect poem. Yours is the best I've seen and really hits home for me. Given a multi cultural neighborhood, I wanted to broaden it to the holiday season to include all cultures traditions and holiday memories, and tweaked a few of the memories to align them more closely with truely my own, but the spirit and thought is still yours. I'll honor your reponse, whatever you respond. Here's the context and my modified version Dear Neighbors, As this year comes to a close, I’d like to wish you all a joyful holiday season, filled with love, laughter, peace and happiness shared with your family and friends. I was once asked what love meant to me - how do you show and share love? The first thought that filled my mind was reminiscing. For me its remembering those special times, that wrap us in the true warmth of love and joy of the holiday season and anytime throughout the year. I found the following poem, on the internet site piptalk FORUMS, Passions in Poetry written by Jer. I modified it a bit, and wanted to share it with you, as it captures the role our memories play in enjoying the holiday spirit. (I hope “Jer” won’t mind my passing it along!) Oh the joys of every memory this holiday season can bring; Those times we made our homemade gifts And the songs that children sing. The tables we set in splendor For another Holiday feast, And the excitement of every present Being grateful for even the least. Then those special moments of decorating, As each light we’d carefully place, Creating more new memories that The paths of time could not erase. But the memories I’m most thankful for The kind that never ends Is the special times we’ve spent, with our family and our friends! Whether your holidays are spent with time honored traditions of many years, or doing new things this season, may it add to your treasure of fond memories. With warm thoughts and wishes for all of you, Pam and Rick |
