Tonight the wind begins to howl,
a murder crows from wizened tree,
A doppelganger
at my door proclaims
that she has come for me.

Her face, my face, is ghostly pale,
one touch draws heat up from
my bones,
She means to lead me to my grave
and sings of this in high-pitched tones.

She shouts triumphant her intent
this shadow-self that I despise,
to drag me
me from my earthly home
toward distant lands and astral skies.

Between our worlds the veil grows thin
with silver cord she binds me tight
What portal
sent this ghastly fetch
who summons me to death tonight?

It’s best to turn my mind away
avert my eyes from ghastly twin,
for madness
waits in just one glance,
eternal darkness lies within.

oooooohhhh this was really freaky! Something I wouldn't like to find knocking at my door. Well done Romy!

Howl at the stars, whisper when you're sleeping, I'll be there to hold you, I'll be there to stop the chills and all the weeping.
