Oh I woke bright and early
on Christmas morn
My heart racing
as the paper was quickly torn

For the excitement
was hard for me to contain
And it lasted until
no presents remained

Then a pain so intense
surged threw me
As the special gift i seeked
i did not see

"Oh Santa" one gift
was all that i needed
"Oh Santa" my gift is not here
I pleaded

"I have tried to be
such a good girl all year"
I cried out loud
as my eyes filled with tears

Then there near the plate
with the cookies now bare
was an envelope marked
"Open with care"

So slowly I opened it
with hands all a quiver
In Santa's own words
I was about to deliver

A message for me
on a hand written note.
In response to a letter
That i myself wrote

Dear Santa please leave me
my one and only
I need someone to love
I am tired of being lonely

Dear Lonely Heart
The gift that you seek
Can be found within yourself
If you just take a peek

For love is abundant
If we just look around
It always existed
It doesn't need to be found

And it is in each of us
That God's love does shine
It is the only love you'll need
and that was God's design

Then a warmth fell upon me
and i felt all alight
For no longer did i feel lonely
My heart bursting forth bright

And as for my one and only
I have  one thing to say
If he walks into my life "great"
If not  It is still a wonderful day

Merry Christmas to all and may God bless you this holiday season.

Suzanne, what a touching piece this is...loneliness is a state of mind and heart, not necessarily being alone.

Such a touching piece. I really loved this poem. So wonderful!

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I hate your socks. I'd like to burn them!

Hi. I really enjoyed your poem. If everyone had your view, we would all have a Merry Christmas all year long.
