(For those of you who missed my moring message,inspired by a sermon presented at the Reynoldburg Church of Christ) Three little words in Ephesians are given, Of the Christian Life, leading us to heaven And of their importance there is no question, So we should hearken and learn their lesson. "SIT", "WALK", and "STAND" in that order are found, If in Christ, we would truly abound-- Of relation to Christ, and the life here we live, In Ephesians, Paul, their significance gives. The first,"SIT" is prepictured by God's invitation, To the Risen Christ-given a special Location. The Father seated Him on His Right Hand on High, An thus we are called to SIT with Christ by. What is the reason or significance of this? We must come into fellowship and know hom much we're blest. Thus the first focus of Ephesians, for us in not a BIG "DO", But a "Look what's been DONE-that I may exalt you!" The second Key Word,"WALK" in a very special way, Use the blessings giv'n-as on earth we live and stay. Walk worthy of your Calling, not as the heathen do, If you live in the Spirit, then in Him you must Walk, too! If we walk with Jesus, we'll seek unity and peace, And thus love at home will prevail,unkind hostility cease. And we'll make good employees, serving well in deed and talk, Having been seated with Jesus, now we're prepared to WALK! That leads us to the third word-to the STAND that we should take, As we Stand for Jesus, and that for the Truth's dear sake. We have been issued full armour, the devil to withstand, It's not ours to attack him-that we must understand! We do not invade the enenmy, to rob him of his ground, But maintain our Stand-the Battle is not our own. But we can share in Christ's Vict'ry, if for Him we we will Stand, He'll defeat 'til the last one falls-put vict'ry in our hand. In Ephesians these are 3 KEY WORDS, SIT,WALK,STAND--as we have heard. Don't try to WALK, if in Christ you're not SEATED, Don't take a STAND, if by your WALK you're defeated. Thus find the Truth in this and live it out, SIT with Christ and so WALK, take a STAND-and thus shout: All Praise be to God, through Jesus Christ for me, For WITH Him, BY Him, and FOR Him, there's sure Victory! "We have been issued full armour"! I like this statement, david, and the whole message is full of wisdom and a very thorough thought provoking interpretation of the scripture you are using. Much to ponder. The poetic form is astounding, considering that you had so many inner messages to convey and put together. It all flows perfectly. Dear David, Like ellie, I will have to go back to these scriptures for a refreshing. Amen, on your sermon. I must admit, I had to come back to it the second time and meditate, then halijalah, what meat you have served!
