I met a poor man on the mountain road that runs beside the sea. Alone he stood in sad silhouette to sky and clouds in his poverty. Verdant palms of glittering green blue waters rich with life Belied his state in sharp contrast to the beauty of the scene. Frail was he and worn with pain his hair a grizzled grey, His face a leathered sheen of carven ebony. He signaled me with half raised arm to make his forlorn plea, "I cannot work Mon, half blind me, one eye can only see!" "God will love you, him will know you his mon And bless you free!" The old man's life summed up in tears on the road beside the sea, As he begged for help that he might eat and keep some dignity. My heart was struck as I felt his pain and looked beyond his tears, For behind those eyes I saw the soul of a child, and that poor child was me. Ricardo. |

Whip; Very good. the message that I hear is; facing our true inner self, "for the kingdom of God is within you". Haunting poem. Ellie 02 |

whipsnade, Beautiful message. Went to a rally not too long ago in Little Rock. God really blessed the crowd. As I came out, I saw what appeared to be a beggar standing there to the entrance, most children scared of his tattered looks and mothers carried them around him. I was drawn to pass near him and looked into his eyes, as I spoke and smiled, he smiled back and said, "God Bless you my Child". A chill ran down my back and my heart was filled with love, not sympathy for the tattered man standing there alone. Blessings, marcy |

Whip~ A stirring reminder that we must take the time to look beyond the tears, into the eyes that lead to the soul of man. For in us all is the child of need. Enjoyed this render very much. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Thanks all,,, sorry for late reply,, sluggish computer,, and off chasing gchildrens communion celebrations..This was my first serious poetic effort of some ten years ago based on a real episode that had the effect I tried to convey and you all recogonised..At the risk of being mawkish,,, love is the answer.. Alle'Cram ,, your experience I would wager, analyzed and retold in poetic form would would be as rewarding to you.. all de bes Ricardo |

This is magnificant! Imagery really brought out a clear picture. What a lesson to look beyond the outide and look into the soul of others. Excellent work, and great thought to ponder on. Marcy, that's one heck of a story I hope also to see put to verse. We entertain angels unawares Hmmn. |
