Well...I'm gettin' old I reckon, for my hair's a turnin' grey, and the pains they keep a shootin' thru my body ev'ry day. An' my mind, it keeps a driftin' to the many things I did when I was just a little shaver; yes, a little barefoot kid! Yes, I'm gettin' old I reckon, as I count the years that's fled, and recall my many playmates, who are numbered with the dead. And the tears come a creepin' down the furrows in my cheeks; An' my voice gets kinda husky, as of them I try to speak. Yes, I'm gettin' old I reckon, but my memory ligers on, keeps recallin' lovin' faces, of my friends who now are gone. The years have sped so swiftly, tho so long they've been away it seems that their departure only happened yesterday. Yes, I'm getin' old I reckon, been here more'n eighty years... try to think about the pleasures and forget the burning tears. And the heartaches and sorrows that I've met while passing thru so it wont be long I reckon till the final payments due. For out time is only borrowed given to us a little spell Only time to say Good Morning', then we have to say farewell; But there's one sweet consolation; and it soothes the aches and pains... It's the Saviour's best assurance that-- we all shall live again! ``Some have learnt many Tricks of sly Evasion, Instead of Truth they use Equivocation, And eke it out with mental Reservation, Which is to good Men an Abomination. Amen, young man! My grandmother taught me very young, our purpose here is temporary, temporarly making preparation for eternal life. Your poem spoke to me, reminding me of that. Thank you. No doubt about it, life only begins when we get to sit around the Master's feet, being filled with that Holy love from eternal minute to minute, in His presence forever. Praise His Name. marcy |

Kavika, This is such a beautiful reminder of how fleeting our lives are, how fragile and temporary, yet we need to prepare for our eternal destiny in our brief pilgrimage here. Very well written and so thoughtful! I look forward to more of your insightful work! Dennis :^) Moonbeams radiate As the veiling cloud has past Playful shadows dance! D.L.White :^) |

Hi Kavika, Thank you, young Lady, I stand corrected. "Yes, I'm getin' old I reckon, been here more'n eighty years..." What a testimony you have in this poem. Thanks again for sharing it. Blessing, marcy |

Kavika, Your poem flows beautifully-with a wonderful message of life's brevity--and death hope for eternity. I enjoyed your work very much-and hope to see more. David "GOD GIVES- but man must open his hand." (German Proverb) |

You sound like a young 80 something to me. Putting your poems on the web, you really sound like a cool grandma to me. Plus you are young enough to be my mother.. LOL |

oh thank you everyone for making me feel welcome here and for your sweet commments. Jester, my heart is as young as I allow it to be. Think old and you will be old, think young and you will just be a delusional old fart lol j.k. You are only as young as you act and want to be. If I acted my age or older I would probably be in bad health and sleeping 18 hours a day. I don't want to act like Im dying yet, because God hasnt said its my time! Septsong, young enough to be your mother am I? My children wish I was younger that way they would be too. I have 6 children myself, and 2 step children...26 grandchildren 49 great grandchildren and so far 12 great great grandchildren. Our family get togethers are huge. Thank you all once again for your wonderful comments. Typing for this old lady takes me years (or so it seems) but I believe it is worth it. God bless you all! ``Some have learnt many Tricks of sly Evasion, Instead of Truth they use Equivocation, And eke it out with mental Reservation, Which is to good Men an Abomination.
