Sights of red and smoke-filled air
shade the walls on which I stare

A friend of stars and student of
a child's pure and honest love

Eyes that cry when refusing to see
the many beasts inside of me

My little saviors to whom I reach
and beg on knee for me to teach

Oh, the many faces of nightmares old
in tampered vaults my secrets hold

And mirrors on walls
of tarnished halls
with sticky stains
hearing the small
forgotten calls
of my remains

My angels

God can clear all that out! WELCOME! He can take the past if we let go, and guide our future if we but give it.

Which way is right for you,
Stop and softly ask yourself,
What Would Jesus Do?

Raul,  This one tugs at the heart strings, as a little one would tug on a pantleg and looking up and seeing perfection, and that for which we desparately sigh. Ah those little angels!   Good poem!  David

Raul; Beautifully written poem. Little ones are the hope of the world and a child shall lead us. Welcome, Raul, this is a heavenly forum and I'm looking forward to more of your poetry.

take care, janet marie

 In the time we've known
That we each are a part of one another
We've lost as much as we have won...
And as our lives have grown
We have found that it only brings us pain
To hang on to the things that we have done...
***Still I love the times you've come***

Welcome Raul! He sure can clear all that out, and more! I really like your writing style, and was especially delighted by your last stanza!  Thanks for sharing, i'm definitely looking forward to reading more of your work!

Welcome and thank you.  Great writing.  It's always so clear to me why Jesus said,"And a child shall lead them" and unless we have childlike faith.  Children may have less education than adults, but they always seem to be more genuine, and freer.
